O’Driscoll moves to Din Associates

Din Associates has appointed former BAA head of design Jo O’Driscoll to the post of managing director. She takes up the position on 1 March and will sit on the seven-strong management team, led by consultancy founders Rasshied Din and John Harvey.

The creation of a dedicated managing director role is a strategic move for the 15-year-old consultancy. It will allow Din, Harvey and the remainder of the management team to concentrate on design and client relations, explains Harvey.

‘Previously Rasshied and I have typically held responsibility for the day-to-day management of the consultancy, but instead of spreading these responsibilities across all of us, it makes sense to bring in someone to handle the management of the business,’ he says.

At BAA, O’Driscoll was responsible for airport architecture and interior design. She joined in 1995 to lead the design of Heathrow Express, which won the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards Grand Prix in 1998.

Her experience will bolster Din Associates’ gradual expansion beyond retail design and into transportation projects, says Harvey. The consultancy is part of the team working on Terminal 5 at Heathrow.

‘We have [developed] a much wider range of clients and Jo’s particular transport experience aids this,’ says Harvey.
