The owner behind Little Italy and Bar Italia, the restaurant, café and bar establishment based in Soho, London, has appointed SHH to design the interiors of its latest venture, a late night restaurant and bar, Nolita, located in North London.

The name is short for ‘North of Little Italy’ and marks the company’s first move to bring a ‘good Italian restaurant to the suburbs’, explains Anthony Polledri, director of Little Italy. The restaurant will open in Potters Bar at the end of the summer and will be located in a standalone building with mock Tudor exteriors.

An SHH spokesman says the concept for the ground floor of the venue resembles ‘the interior of a felt-lined cigar box’. It features dark brown walls with pinstripe details, full-height wine and cigar wall displays, a bar with a gold-leafed perimeter and three full-screen artworks, set within gilded frames, referencing classical Italian art.

Nolita will operate a late licence, serving until 2am from Wednesday to Saturday.
