Avoiding the show is just a way of attracting attention

In response to your article about design courses boycotting the New Designers show, it’s ludicrous that their decision to exhibit elsewhere this year could be reasoned as a boycott and not a marketing exercise.

Many courses exhibit outside New Designers every year, not to reject New Designers, but to be seen in an environment where the competition is limited to your fellow course mates.

If Buckinghamshire Chilterns and Kingston feel that their standard of work won’t stand out at New Designers, it is due to the course failings and a lack of confidence in their projects rather than the exhibition they boycott.

I hope that their decision won’t overshadow the efforts of the similar courses throughout the country that will show their work through New Designers and the democratic forum it provides. Many of which have worked hard to raise the funds to be part of such an exhibition and all without help and contribution from their university or courses.
