More cuts at the British Museum

The troubled British Museum is cutting back its temporary exhibitions programme and has not ruled out job losses at its internal design department, as it attempts to reduce its £5m deficit, a spokeswoman says.

Work with external groups has not been cancelled, she adds.

Projects for the British Museum’s 250th anniversary next year, including exhibitions and gallery developments such as the King’s Gallery, will continue as planned, she says.
