Hopkins Architects has created a prefabricated bathroom pod comprising an outer skin and a white 1.8m x 2.5m glass-fibre reinforced plastic inner shell. The fixtures are installed before the pod is slotted into place at the destination site. Hopkins claims the pods, commissioned for Rice University in Houston, Texas, cost half that of a conventional bathroom to build. The pod was launched at the New York’s Museum of Modern Art earlier this week, as part of its latest design exhibition.
