Met Office to pick interiors team

Two interior design consultancies will learn after the General Election whether they will be handed the design of the new-build Meteorological Office in Exeter.

Stratus and M-Logic, are bidding for the design and construction of the headquarters.

The Stratus group includes design group Citrus and architect Broadway Malyan (interiors concept pictured), and M-Logic features DEGW and Alsop Architects. Both have had their proposals accepted by the city council as they compete for the high-profile £60m project.

The consortiums submitted tenders at the end of February. Work is expected to start later this year, with a completion date of early 2003.

The Met Office building will house over 1000 staff, currently located across nine sites in Bracknell, Berkshire.
