Form Studio Graphic races ahead with identity

THE first purpose-built UK motor racing circuit since Brooklands opened in 1907 has been given a corporate identity by Market Harborough design consultancy Form Studio Graphic.

The 28m Rockingham Motor Speedway project will see the conversion of a “brown field” site into a major motor racing venue, set to open next year.

FSG developed the logo, corporate brochure, website, press folder and fact booklet as well as invitations, exhibition stands and the launch visual presentation.

“The identity has two elements, the Rockingham logo – which will become the corporate umbrella – and the chequers element which will be used to brand the Motor Speedway project,” explains FSG director Chris Large.

The first phase of the new complex will include a high speed oval circuit, road racing circuits, pit garages, a racing school, kart circuit and an 11 000 seat grandstand. “We had to avoid the association of the complex with one particular type of motorsport, so we used motion blur text and grid positions to relate to motor sport activities in general,” adds Large.

Rockingham Marketing Director Chris Tate says, “FSG has done a fantastic job… it has established all the elements of the brief. We will expect to work with it in the future.”
