Lufthansa declines to comment in detail, but a Lufthansa spokeswoman confirms the design work involves interiors, products and services rather than airport concessions, tailfins or corporate identity work.

Lufthansa is understood to be seeking a product design consultancy, but the spokeswoman declines to say whether the pitch will involve any British groups.

Lufthansa brand and design manager Björn Bosler also refuses to comment.
