Minale was a valuable design industry critic

It was with doubled grief that I learnt of Minale’s stupid and unnecessary death, first as an oarsman who has introduced rowing to clients and colleagues over many years and second, but more importantly, for the loss of one of the few in the design industry who was prepared to stand above the ramparts and tell big companies when they were committing some design folly.

His long-running campaign often conducted in DW against the BA tailfins springs to mind. As soon as I saw the new BP identity I knew that Marcello would have something scathing to say about it – and so he did.

While we all send our condolences to his family, consultancy and rowing club, our industry can best serve his memory by searching for a new fearless and outspoken exponent.
