Pentagram goes to Lakes

Pentagram has been appoin-ted to design identities for two historic properties in the Lake District and the trust that owns them. One of the houses is due to open to the public for the first time in July.

Pentagram is creating an identity for arts and crafts house Blackwell for the public opening, which will include a programme of contemporary arts and crafts exhibitions. Overlooking Lake Windermere, Blackwell was designed at the turn of the century by architect Baillie Scott.

Pentagram is also creating a new identity for Abbot Hall Art Gallery in Kendal, which goes live in July, and the Lake District Art Gallery and Museum Trust, which owns both premises.

According to Pentagram partner Angus Hyland, the consultancy is being paid a nominal fee for the work.
