If the spirit moves you

The lengths some go to for a spot of authenticity. Navy Blue creative director Geoff Nicol wanted to capture the true spirit of the Western Isles for Glenmorangie’s annual report.

So he and photographer Doug MacGregor hung out in Islay, to catch a jolly local ceilidh on film. However, none of the island’s natives were in the mood, and it was up to Nicol and MacGregor to get the dancing going. No easy thing for Scottish-born Nicol, ‘I wouldn’t know a ceilidh if it came up and bit me on the arse,’ he admits.

After all that, the shots from the evening didn’t make their way into the report. A charming islander in a flat cap was viewed as more convincing.
