German EU identity victim of over enthusiasm

Just looking at the German presidency EU identity without reading the article I had exactly the same reaction as Thomas Manns and the unnamed German designer (News, DW 12 March).

Having spent half my life on this side of the channel after leaving Germany, I feel strongly that the designers and the German government failed to look at the proposal from a detached outsider’s point of view. Research would have informed them about the possible and embarrassing misunderstandings. Europe deserves a truly European perspective.
