Wolff Olins to brand Tate collaboration

Wolff Olins has been appointed to create a global brand identity for the combined on-line business of the Tate Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Last week it was revealed that e-business consultancy Scient has been appointed to design the on-line business proper. The service is expected to offer transatlantic e-commerce services and the opportunity for on-line art viewing (DW 19 May).

Wolff Olins, like Scient, was appointed in the US through its New York office by MOMA project director Liz Madison.

Art organisations, artists, designers and filmmakers are all involved in the project – the site will promote prints, product and furniture designs, books, courses, virtual tours, exhibits and webcasts.

Wolff Olins recently redesigned the Tate Gallery identities, to coincide with the opening of the Tate Modern in London. At the same time The Tate’s UK website was redesigned by Nykris Digital Design (DW 31 March).
