Design training beats Macintosh experience

I have to agree with Michelle Trickett (Letters, DW 29 October 1999) and it strikes me that Gillian Gutman (Letters, DW 12 November) is not being entirely realistic about the computing facilities available to design students.

I’d rather a student designer without Mac experience instead of a Mac operator that is lacking design experience any day.

Any designer without the confidence to be different is not a designer but a slave to client/ fashion/the boss etc.

What are all those techies going to do when their computers crash on 1 January 2000, anyway?
