The Philadelphia-based digital media group has secured offices in Clerkenwell and has already recruited four UK designers.

The consultancy is pitching for a number of heavyweight UK design projects and more design staff are currently being sought, says Electronic Ink chief executive Harold Hambrose.

The four new designers will now be taken to Philadelphia, to be introduced to the group and its working practices, before returning to the UK. Hambrose says the long working hours in the UK design industry amaze him.

“There are a lot of opportunities in the UK market right now, particularly in financial services,” says Hambrose. He says the consultancy’s US experience of e-commerce design, for clients such as MBNA, IBM and Microsoft, will help establish a niche for Electronic Ink Europe.

The group is launching its website this week, www.electronicink.com, to help promote its expansion overseas.
