Event Communications has designed a literary museum in North Kerry, Ireland, which will open on 27 April.

The North Kerry Literary and Cultural Centre is designed to showcase the work of local writers and explore the literary traditions of the area. Event has been working on the £250 000 project since November 1997, when it won an unpaid creative pitch against undisclosed rivals.

A spokewomen for Event says: “Our design approach was informed by the writers’ words. The emphasis is on letting the writers speak for themselves.”

Part of the museum is devoted to Irish oral story-telling traditions, another explores the influence of the landscape on the work of local writers. Five writers each have a gallery devoted to their work.
