‘I discovered it because a lot of my clients and friends kept taking me there, and I now go there about once a month. It was set up by Sergi Arola, a 37- year-old chef from Barcelona living in Madrid. Sergi is one of a new breed of Spanish chefs who are creating a fusion with cuisine from around the world with that of their own Mediterranean roots. His passion is to break down taste and refine it. This formula is absolutely amazing to experience through taste. It goes beyond normal cuisine and transcends into a new cultural philosophy. The interior of La Broche is designed by renowned Spanish architect Rubén Picado Fernández, who also designed the Museum of the Age of Enlightenment in Valencia. Predominantly white and very minimalist, the interior is a perfect backdrop for the cuisine.

‘The atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable. The crowd is a mixture of old Spanish business and new, from banking to Hello magazine and from fashion to film and advertising. It’s a nine out of ten for design and culture. Every visit to La Broche has a whole new meaning,’ says Gutiérrez.
