New contracts put Wheel back on track

Recently demerged digital media group Wheel has won two mobile phone projects in a move that should help to lift the consultancy’s fortunes.

Wins in the last few days from BT Cellnet and Hutchison 3G could reverse the fortunes of the group, which was forced to cut 70 staff from its London office last month (DW 29 March).

Details on the work for both companies are scant. BT Cellnet has charged Wheel to merge its cluster of sites into a single offering for use as a customer acquisition and retention tool, says a Wheel spokeswoman.

The group was appointed by BT Cellnet following a six-way pitch against unnamed rivals and the site is scheduled to go live in the summer.

Miles Johnson, director of Primecom, parent to Wheel, says he is confident that the fortunes of Wheel, which was formerly Pres.co, are looking up, after winning half a dozen new pieces of work.

Meanwhile, Wheel has also designed the website for Halifax for a six-figure fee.

The site, www.halifaxgroup plc.com, which launches this week, features photography of the “Great British Public”, links to Reuters for business news and share updates, and is suitable for visually-impaired people.
