The Rado Watch at the Design Museum; Automobility at Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, Germany; Shortlisted designers for the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize at The Crafts Council Gallery

The Rado Watch charts developments in watch design. It features innovations like the “indestructible watch” and Rado’s use of exotic materials like lanthanum. The exhibition runs from 28 August until 3 October.

Automobility – what moves us shows until 9 January 2000 in Germany. The exhibition looks at the connection between the automobile’s development, its impact on society and the fanaticism of car users and designers.

The eight shortlisted designers in competition for The Jerwood Applied Arts Prize 1999: Furniture display their creations until 3 October. The winner will be announced on 6 September.
