SCG fuels Scottish Power store

Retailer and utilities provider Scottish Power has unveiled a new retail format in Hamilton.

Created by SCG London, the new store is expected to provide a template for future store refurbishments.

The company has more than 90 retail park stores nationwide, mostly in shed-type buildings. “This is an exciting initiative from Scottish Power,” says SCG creative director Mike Furniss. “The sweeping perimeter walls contain brand messages from the new retail mission statement.”

Bright colours have been introduced for the retail areas. An interior scheme featuring a mixture of lime green, turquoise and the company’s corporate yellow is offset by floor to ceiling photography on perimeter walls.

“The retail experience we have created demonstrates how stimulating graphic-based environments can be using a ‘shed’ format imaginatively,” adds Furniss.

A large scale reproduction of the company’s identity also adorns interior walls.

The retail section is split into two main areas – for brown and white goods – with its own colour scheme. Customers can also open and pay for utilities accounts.
