Sodeau simplifies Modus marque

Furniture and interiors designer Michael Sodeau has refreshed the identity for Modus, the contemporary British furniture brand. The new marque will be officially unveiled at this year’s 100% Design festival next month.

Sodeau proposed the idea of a rebrand for the company, in a bid to give Modus ‘more simple, straightforward and timeless’ styling. ‘It is the first time I’ve done graphic identity work for someone else,’ he says.

According to Sodeau, the identity uses a Helvetica typeface, with accents on the ‘Mod’ – to imply modern – and ‘us’ to refer to the company.

Modus managing director Jon Powell says that the graphic identity reflects this year’s ‘matured’ range. ‘With a subdued palette of colours, there is generally a more sophisticated feel to the product range,’ he explains.
