Let’s get things straight about New Blood briefs
In response to Kelly Burnett’s letteron D&AD and New Blood, I’d like to set out the facts
In response to Kelly Burnett’s letter (DW 19 July) on D&AD and New Blood, I’d like to set out the facts.
Some people confuse New Blood with the Student Awards. At New Blood, the course or college, not the student, pays a membership fee and gets a stand. Yellow Pencils are awarded at the Student Awards, a free event for nominees.
The Warburtons brief was part of the Student Awards – not New Blood. Also, only the unsuccessful ignored the brief. Finally, the jury was not all male – it included Sue Willis from DJPA.
We love feedback at D&AD, good, bad or ugly. But please get your facts right before you fire any shots, and tell us first.
