C’est la ‘Vie’ for Virgin store

Virgin has confirmed the brand identity of its cosmetics chain as Virgin Vie (DW 20 June), created jointly by Revolution and in-house visual design manager Allison Miles.

Virgin Retail is to spend 220m opening new music stores over the next two years. Eight new Megastores will be built, including one on London’s King’s Road. The store will be based on the original store designs created by 20/20, although architects are to be briefed to add a “special atmosphere” to reflect the music heritage of the area.

Richard Branson has announced that the Union Jack will be displayed on Virgin aircraft within the next four weeks. He positions the move as a patriotic stance in the face of British Airways’ new global image. Design firms won’t benefit, however. The budget is just 100 000 and design will be done in-house.
