CSD should realise its latent potential

The CSD represents a broad spectrum of practitioners engaged in diverse and rich activities. Its resources reflect a membership modest in comparison to more formidable institutions whose influence we admire.

It must not become obsessed by a false sense of importance.

Any credible institution should concentrate on establishing professional and educational standards. These issues require a rigorous intellectual and imaginative approach. I believe that commitment exists and is waiting to be unlocked.

I urge those charged with the good of the CSD to exercise a clarity of vision which attracts the very best practitioners and theorists to the society and begins to look towards establishing clear objectives which will maintain and strengthen what I feel is the only credible representative body for design.
