On Wednesday 2 July there is a public debate, organised by Glasgow 1999 on Glasgow, Past Imperfect – Future Tense. The lecture will ask the question: does the city planning system push for quality and vision or pamper to mediocrity? The event will be chaired by Deyan Sudjic and speakers will include Piers Gough, partner at CZWG Architects, and Hildebrand Frey, director of urban studies at the University of Strathclyde.

Or you might prefer to go to the Art & Architecture lecture held on the 3 July at 6.30pm at The Gallery in Cowcross Street. Japanese architect Shin Igashiru is currently working at the Architectural Association, and will be giving a lecture titled Beauty and Pain discussing his recent exhibition.
