A three-piece suite for the office

Simple solutions are creeping back into the workplace, as new methods of working are introduced and clients no longer have the budgets for complex office furniture systems with multiple components.

ABC, a new furniture system by Claudio Bellini and John Bennett at Atelier Bellini consists of just three pieces – a storage unit, worktable and freestanding screen, and has been designed for new London company Forza Furniture.

The key component is the one-piece, one-size storage unit, consisting of aluminium extrusions onto which steel panels clip. Cabling is concealed within each end of the unit and can run horizontally at various points. The drawer units are modules which simply fit into the unit, negating the need for a separate pedestal. And a shelf to one side of the worktable can hold your computer hard-drive.

The storage unit is 480mm deep and has been designed to be accessible from both sides. This achieves a saving on the footprint of each workstation without sacrificing valuable space on the work surface. For the middle manager, the unit can be placed against the wall with the desk placed in front of it. A circular table provides additional work space.

The 900mm deep table is available in three lengths, and is a lightweight construction with injected foam top. The freestanding screens are lino-faced, and double up as pinboards.

ABC has been a year in development and will be launched officially at London’s Spectrum exhibition from 20-23 April.
