DIA follows Lopex lead

Cambridge Consultants has once more topped Design Week’s Top 100 chart of UK design groups, reporting almost 20 per cent growth in fee-income during 1997.

The level of growth is in line with several groups, including WPP’s Enterprise Identity Group which holds second place in the Top 100 and heads the global list. Its UK arm, essentially Sampson Tyrrell Enterprise, reports fees up 30 per cent last year.

In all, the Top 100 groups earned fees of 343m through their UK offices during 1997 on turnover of 526m. This is a 25 per cent increase in fees on the previous year. Staffing levels were up 24 per cent to 5000 full-timers.

The lists were compiled with management consultant Ian Cochrane of Ticegroup. The findings are based on data from a questionnaire circulated to DW readers.
