Navy Blue has stolen the show in the corporate design category at this year’s UK plc Annual Report Awards, sponsored by Coopers & Lybrand, with its work for whisky distiller Glenmorangie, formerly known as MacDonald & Muir.

Navy Blue design director Geoff Nicol says: “Glenmorangie changed its name and wanted a report which would act as a marketing tool. Our solution reflected the values of whisky through stencilling and colour, while creating something readable.”

The judges of the awards ceremony found Navy Blue’s solution to be “an individual and stylish report, reflecting successfully the visual characteristics of the brand equity in the design approach”.

Other shortlisted design consultancies in the corporate design category were Parkgate for futures and options company Rolfe & Nolan, Workroom for engineering group McKechnie, and Design Portfolio for IT resource company Delphi.

The corporate design category, sponsored by Holmes and Marchant, is one of seven categories in the awards which deal with middle market companies.

Navy Blue has been retained to design the 1998 annual report for Glenmorangie.
