GCap Media is tuning into regions

The UK’s largest commercial radio operator, GCap Media, is looking to expand its design team to the regions outside London.

Desiree Collier (pictured right), head of visual creative at GCap, is assessing how the company could manage design resources in networks and hubs outside the capital, where the current eight-strong design and audio-visual team is based.

GCap Media is the company formed by the merger of Capital Radio and GWR Group on 9 May and operates 54 local analogue stations and one national station, Classic FM. Collier, previously head of creative at Capital Radio, was promoted to the new group-wide position at this time.

The GCap visual creative team handles design and audio-visual projects across 16 analogue radio brands – including Capital FM, Classic FM, Choice FM and The Mix Network – as well as more than 100 digital stations. It is responsible for creative work across print, television, on-line and event marketing.

According to Collier, ‘We are looking at Bristol as a possible regional hub for design, as The Mix Network is based there.

‘We are now doing a lot of work for external brands and we’ve evolved from on-line to cross-media because the market required it. We are looking for opportunities across the country, and we want to show that not everything comes out of London.’
