Tax-payer foots bill for the DFEE free-pitch

I was interested to read the comment from the creative head of one of the Central Office of Information’s graphic design arms regarding the free-pitch they took part in for the Department for Education and Employment (DW 6 October).

I’m not criticising nor commenting on the quality of their work, but they can hardly put themselves on the same footing as a non-Government design group which would have to foot the bills for a free-pitch themselves. Any way you look at it, and no matter where they shift the costs, when a Government design agency is free-pitching, it’s the tax-payer who’s footing the bill.
