Wolff Olins completes Finnish bank identity…

Wolff Olins’ corporate identity for Finland’s newly merged bank Merita has been unveiled with a logo design drawing on classic Finnish elements.

The consultancy created the name for Merita, which was a result of the merger of the Union Bank of Finland and Kansallis-Osake-Pankki earlier this year (DW 2 June).

The new identity, due to be rolled out from the beginning of next year, expresses the idea of partnership in the use of natural elements – stone and wood – linked to form a single unit, says a consultancy spokesman.

The Nordic bank’s identity is in a type created by Wolff Olins and appears in green “to provide a colour link with the natural elements in the new identity”, the spokesman adds.

The new corporate identity will be rolled out in the bank’s branches and on to signage, credit cards and literature. The logo will also be used to represent the Merita Group, including the parent company and all its subsidiaries.
