Regular readers of DW will have noticed that designers like few things more than getting on their bikes.

Gaelin Gray, new business and marketing person at London’s Real Time Studio, deserves to be up on the publicity pillion along with Graven Images’ Janice Kirkpatrick and Seymour Powell’s Dick Powell, who have both wheeled across our pages recently.

Gray rides a 900cc Honda Fireblade, one of the fastest motorbikes on the road. It can reach 60 miles per hour in just a few seconds… think of that next time you’re stuck in a traffic jam.

“I hate public transport so much,” says Gaelin, who used to get a ride on her grandfather’s bike as a child. “I bought my first one when I was 18. It was the best thing I ever did.”

Designers tend not to believe her when she mentions the bike, or “assume it’s just a scooter”.

Gaelin has sobering information for aspiring designers/bikers: “There’s going to be a law that you can’t drive anything more than a 250cc for the first two years of your license,” she says.
