Weinfeld goes Brazilian in Knightsbridge

Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld is designing the interiors for a contemporary Brazilian restaurant, Mocotó, which will open in London’s Knightsbridge this July.

David Ponté, co-owner of the popular Middle Eastern restaurant Momo, is launching the venue. The main restaurant will be situated in a basement, while the ground floor will offer a café-bar environment.

Weinfeld is designing the restaurant interiors using traditional Brazilian materials, which he is shipping over from South America.

Mocotó will feature more than 100 armchairs built by the celebrated Rio de Janeiro furniture designer Sergio Rodriguez.

Weinfeld says he has been collecting these over the past year with a view to installing them in the space.

Mocotó will be located at 145 Knightsbridge, the site of the former Italian restaurant Isola.
