Judges picked for millennium phone tower

The judging panel has been announced for the Orange Millennium Landmark Initiative, a competition to choose designers for a telecommunications mast to mark the millennium.

The initiative aims to produce an environmentally friendly tower to cater for mobile phone networks.

Telecommunications group Orange has formed a panel including designer Thomas Heatherwick, who created the award- winning Autumn Intrusions window display for department store Harvey Nichols; engineer Tony Hunt, who has worked with architects Sir Norman Foster and Lord Rogers; and landscape architect Richard Burden. The panel will be chaired by countryside champion Candida Lycett Green.
