Peters has a head start with nick names

Full of beans about the team he poached from Cato, Michael Peters has caused confusion by constantly referring to the now ex-Cato creative director Richard Tilley as “Ginger” Tilley. Speculation as to the origin of Ginger’s nickname became fevered once it was discovered that Ginger hasn’t got ginger hair. Was he named after Biggles’ wingman? It couldn’t be derived from rhyming slang, from what we knew of him. Was he a twinkle toes on the dancefloor, like Ginger R? Did he train Grand National winners like Ginger McCain? Turns out we just aren’t old enough to remember the real reason. Ginger used to have long ginger hair. Now? Well, see for yourself.

Ah yes I remember him well !! I also used to work at Cato’s and remember Ginger giving me a lift on his scooter to Hammersmith Station from the office in Albermarle Street with my false eyelashes flapping in the wind !
