DJ Stout earns partner status at Pentagram

Pentagram has appointed the award-winning art director of Texas Monthly, DJ Stout, as a partner in its Austin, Texas office. He becomes the design group’s 17th partner worldwide.

As Texas Monthly’s art director since 1987, Stout has been nominated for ten National Magazine Awards. He won the prestigious award for photography and general excellence in 1990 and again for general excellence two years later.

Additionally, he was voted one of “the 100 most important people in photography” by American Photo in 1998, while several of his book designs have also won awards.

Stout describes Texas Monthly as “a nurturing environment” that has given him “the creative freedom to build an international reputation for my editorial design work from a regional publication”.

“Now, as a Pentagram partner I’m looking forward to the challenge of moving up to the next level and the opportunity to be associated with some of the best designers in the world,” he says.

Fellow Austin-based Pentagram partner Lowell Williams adds: “DJ brings to the table a terrific design sensibility, an international reputation and a Texas portion of ambition.”
