Paris showcase planned for Glasgow Collection

The Glasgow Collection is to be showcased at the British Embassy in Paris, as part of a drive to raise Glasgow’s profile as a world class centre for design. Further international venues are expected to be found soon.

The exhibit, which was a central part of Glasgow 1999: UK City of Architecture and Design, opens today for three days as part of the Paris Design Event.

A special showing, in the presence of the Prime Minister’s wife Cherie Blair and leading members of the French design industry, takes place on 29 January 2000.

Glasgow Collection director Bruce Wood says: “The collection is now beginning to fulfil one of its primary objectives, which is to heighten the national and international awareness of Glasgow’s design capability.

“The Paris exhibition is the first of what looks like being a series of high profile events involving the Glasgow Collection internationally, and helping forge links between design and business.”
