Small businesses unable to charge at pitch stage

I have been reading all your letters regarding free-pitching with much interest over recent months, and even though I don’t necessarily agree with the practice, for a small sign/ design for print company such as ours, it is harsh reality.

I stand in awe of the consultancies that can charge for design work before they have even produced anything.
