Spuds-u-love for Allies as it redesigns and merges Potato Council’s websites

Design consultancy Allies is redesigning the Potato Council’s website, merging its Love Potatoes and Love Chips sites into a single URL.

The consultancy has worked with the Potato Council for more than 14 years and was appointed for the website project without a pitch about a month ago.

The website project follows Allies’ work on the identity for National Chip Week 2010, which it will refresh for this year’s event taking place next month.

The new site will adhere to the Potato Council’s existing style guide, as seen on the current site, which was created by Allies in July 2010. This features a bright green and yellow colour palette and bold, modern typefaces.

The Love Chips and Love Potatoes website merger follows the stipulation by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board that each of its divisions is only allowed to have one consumer website.

A spokeswoman for Allies says, ’They were happy with the design of the sites individually, but they needed us to devise a strategy to help people move between the two areas.

’We put a navigation system in place that gives the impression there was two sites – they’re visually different but ultimately it’s the same site.’

The website is set to launch for National Chip Week, which runs from 21-27 February.
