Asda Wal-Mart opens in UK
Retail design in the UK moved closer to US models this week with the launch of the first Asda Wal-Mart Supercentre in Bristol.
Incorporating several elements directly from Wal-Mart, the 8640m2 site has been developed mostly in-house, with some input from two external design consultancies – Rawls & Company and Silk Pearce. Another nine Supercentres will be opened during the next five years. Rival supermarket chains are expected to unveil their plans to fight back soon.
