Conran Group to redesign MFI

Conran Design Group has been appointed to redesign the interiors of furniture chain MFI. The project does not include the MFI corporate identity, originally created by Design House, which has not been earmarked for change.

CDG was appointed by MFI’s new management team, headed by chief executive John Hancock, after a six-way pitch.

The new designs are scheduled for introduction by the beginning of 2001. The group’s Hygena stores in France and Spain will not be redesigned.

“MFI’s vision is straightforward, to make MFI more available to the public. There is a gap in the market between Ikea and Habitat that MFI is perfectly placed to tap into,” says CDG managing director David Worthington.
