The Department of Health has announced a 38-strong design roster for literature and exhibition design for the next two years.
The intention was to have 30 general groups and seven exhibition specialists, but “there was a tie for the last spot [in the general roster]”, says a DoH spokesman.
The DoH, which spends 1.1m on design annually, received 320 anonymous credentials pitches after it made a Europe-wide appeal (DW 15 March).
By drastically cutting the number of groups on its books from 150 to 38, the DoH hopes to build stronger relationships with consultancies and draw up pitch lists more easily.
The chosen exhibition groups are: Academy Expo, Brian Manktelow, CBM Visual Communications, Mardell Pick Design, Paul James Associates, Project Profile and Terry Hutchings & Associates.
Consultancies from outside London on the list are: Austin Knight UK, BA Publishing Services, Bang Communications, Gecko, Graphiti Park, Beacon Creative Partnership, Holmes & Marchant, LA Ltd, MCA Group, Mono Design, Paul Simmons & Associates, PFB Creative Marketing Solutions, Square One Advertising & Design, Teasdale Graphic Advertising, The Design Studio and White Gate Design.
London groups listed on the roster are: Addison Design Co, Bentley Holland & Partners, Butcher & Gundersen, Dragon International, GPS Visual Communications, Hieroglyphics, Lawrence & Beavan, Luxon Carr, Omnific Studios, Pile Probert Kelly, Quadrant Design Associates, Robin Johnson Design Consultants, Smithfield Design, The Team and Westhill Group.
