TV idents fill the picture

A host of satellite and cable television channel launches and relaunches is coming to UK screens, complete with new or tweaked identities.

The Family Channel has yet to appoint a design consultancy to handle its planned relaunch next year. The new look could well include a name change, says a client spokeswoman.

Warner Brothers Television is setting up a satellite channel in November, carrying cartoons, films and live action series. This will join BSkyB’s multichannel package. A spokesman for BSkyB denies rumours that the company is introducing more than 12 new channels or programme segments in the autumn.

Meanwhile, The Weather Channel is being launched this month with an on-screen identity by The Look in Leeds. The consultancy is also working on title sequences and maps for the channel.
