London Underground is developing an integrated print and multimedia project about its track operating practices in conjunction with HWF Creative.

The first-time initiative includes the design of a 600-page instruction manual and a set of prompt cards for use on site by trained track workers, and a multimedia database to run on London Underground’s Intranet system. The year long project will be completed in January 2000.

“We are developing a logical and intuitive visual language that will enable the user to find and understand the information they need as quickly as possible,” says Harry Fleming, director at HWF.

“It is aimed at site engineers, track workers and planners who work on site,” he says. “It is a one off project at the moment.”
