MD go for Latin minimalism in eatery project

Italian chef Ambro Ianeselli, from ICA eatery Work in Progress, is opening a 50-seat restaurant called Metrogusto, designed by Meadowcroft Dernie.

The group behind interiors for Ministry of Sound bars and retailer Egg is developing the site in Battersea Park Road, south London. The interior theme is inspired by Italian landscapes and uses a variety of materials.

Lighting is by CK Into Lighting Design in London, with graphics by Tim Walton and Francis Harnet. Ianeselli says design work began in March and the project is costing £100 000 in total.

“MG’s [will have] a stripped interior, but without the paraphernalia and self-consciousness of many minimalist interiors,” says a Metrogusto spokeswoman.
