DW flags up Britain debate

The Union flag should be retained and Britain adopted as the official name for the UK, according to key players in the global design industry.

Some 25 top names took part in a straw poll conducted by Design Week to bring the design community into the debate about Britain’s identity. Opinions are now being trawled from DW readers.

Meanwhile, WPP chairman Martin Sorrell and fashion designer Paul Smith have been signed up as roving “ambassadors” for Britain with 33 other captains of industry, by Foreign Secretary Robin Cook. The unpaid “ambassadors” will be expected to promote Britain on their trips abroad.
