Tayburn to open Manchester office as part of global drive

Edinburgh-headquartered consultancy Tayburn is poised to open an office in Manchester, as it also looks to further international expansion.

The move will be spearheaded by Tayburn managing director Simon Farrell, who joined the group earlier this year from The Chase in Manchester, where he was brand strategy director (DW 9 June).

‘We are pretty close to doing something in Manchester,’ says Erick Davidson, Tayburn chairman and chief executive. ‘We are getting more work from provincial English towns now than we are from London. And the lower overheads [outside the capital] mean that we can offer the same quality at a lower price.’

Davidson is keen to keep expanding Tayburn’s international connections, either through acquisition, joint venture or alliance. ‘We are trying to build links to the US and we’re also looking at Scandinavia and Amsterdam. But first we will concentrate on the north west [of England] and then London,’ he says.

Last week the group announced the formation of an alliance with Perspexa, a multidisciplinary communications group based in Melbourne, Australia which was created from Enterprise IG’s Melbourne office in January 2004. The alliance will see resources shared to service the two consultancies’ international clients.
