Hong Kong office for Springpoint

Springpoint has embarked on the international expansion drive promised by the company that acquired it in April with the opening of a Hong Kong office this week.

Founders Fiona Gilmore and Mark Pearce sold Springpoint to Interpublic Group-backed Golin/ Harris International (DW 19 April) to enable the group to create a global network.

The group is two months away from opening another office in the Asia Pacific region and will open in New York in the ‘very near future’.

Springpoint chief executive Gilmore says the consultancy will continue to expand in the Asia Pacific region, though Hong Kong will serve as the group’s headquarters in Asia.

‘We will open other offices in the region depending on where our clients want us to be. We want to win a mix of both local and international business,’ she explains.

Gilmore estimates that more than 10 per cent of the consultancy’s business is in Asia. It works for Unilever in the region.

She says the consultancy has not finalised its position in New York and is also ‘looking at Europe very seriously’. Springpoint already has offices in London and San Francisco.

The launch in Hong Kong follows work in the local government on the building of the airport, a bridge and a new town under the banner Hong Kong Interlink, which dates back to 1992.
