Royal Mail is issuing a set of stamps on 22 October, designed by Dick Davis, showing four naval flags: the Union Jack, White Ensign, the Jolly Roger and the flag of the Chief of the Defence Staff. The stamps accompany a book on the Royal Navy Submarine Service, also by Davis. The Unseen and Unheard Prestige Stamp Book marks the Submarine Service’s centenary, which began when Holland 1 was launched on 2 October 1901.
