Now that’s what I call a musical design classic

The new Now site designed by The Team

Hearing the the news that The Team has created a website for compilation album brand Now That’s What I Call Music that allows users to create their own music compilations from popular Now tracks (www.designweek.co.uk, 11 April) got me thinking about my own musical favourites.

Even in music there are just some things worth holding on to and redesigning.

A perfect example is the White Lines lineage and that infamous, contagious baseline. Actually invented by Liquid Liquid in 1983 with their track Cavern, then immortalised by Grandmaster Flash and more recently sampled by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. So one song in three different designs. Quite a phenomenon really.
